| About Us There is a huge misconception as to what physical therapy is, and more importantly, how physical therapy can help. Most people’s experiences with physical therapy are those of being tossed into a big open space or gym, and performing numerous exercises before being zapped with electricity and frozen with an ice pack. This concept is based on an outdated philosophy, which is superficial and most importantly does not address the causes of pain or dysfunction.
At Centered Health, we provide something very unique to physical therapy. As mentioned above, typical physical therapy begins at the functional level, asking patients to perform numerous exercises despite pain and dysfunction. We at Centered Health begin at the structural level, making bodily adjustments to maximize heath, function and ultimately eliminate pain. This approach is holistic in nature, looking at how each part of the body interacts with each other. We are proud to say that our focus is on treating the root causes of pain, disability, disease and dysfunction as opposed to treating just your symptoms. Because without treating the cause, the symptoms will continue to re-emerge.
Each therapist at Centered Health is an expert in Osteopathic Medicine. These Osteopathic principals incorporate a combination of hands on, manual techniques and movement/function therapy. These are all treatments that complement medical care and offer relief from pain, injury, disease and dysfunction. Ultimately, leading patients to a more whole, happy, involved and active life. Through the implementation of this strategy, we have been able to help a wide range of patients who come to us with a broad range of diagnoses and conventional labels (i.e. chronic pain, cerebral palsy, autism, fibromyalgia etc.) We do not say that we cure any particular disease. However, we can say with utmost confidence that we have helped people in similar situations attain a higher quality of life and health.
The only way to know the extent to which the combined efforts of Integrated Structural and Functional Therapy will be effective for you is to set up a visit for a diagnostics session and treatment plan.
